HillCroft Shires: Chad Bauder

Chad Bauder with PatrickHillCroft Shires started in 1995 when Chad Bauder decided to purchase the first draft horse to live on HillCroft property.

The horse was Ox Kill Sir Patrick of HillCroft. Over the years several other shires have come across the HillCroft pastures, some for training, some as hitch prospects, but all as family.

Sadly we had to say goodbye to Patrick who passed away suddenly in 2011. Though if it were not for him, the entire family may not have found themselves in love with the shire breed and participating in local, regional and national shire shows and breed demonstrations to help raise awareness of this wonderful breed. He had a way of touching the hearts of everyone he met.

Chad is constantly looking to expand HillCroft shires to create a hitch of his own. But for now, we will continue to compete throughout the Northeast.

HillCroft Shires, like HillCroft Stables, also has a great deal to offer. Chad is a multiple-hitch driver and is capable of showing up to a 6 horse Hitch. He is also extremely skilled in horse handling for halter classes, Draft braiding, and training (for both students and horses). Chad has taught several students in the art of showmanship, and all have excelled in their classes.

HillCroft Shires congratulates Al Myers and Clay Country Farms on their purchase of Tally Ho Black Knights Jester (pictured below). Jester was a wonderful part of the HillCroft family and it is nice to see him go to such a caring home.
