1. What type of clothing/shoes does my child need?
For winter riding camps, dress in layers. Thermals are suggested. Hats and gloves and layered socks are also suggested. For summer camps, children should wear jeans or other long pants and bring along a pair of shorts to change into for non-riding activities such as arts & crafts. All children should wear riding or other boots with a slight heel. No Sneakers.
2. Does my child need a riding hat?
Riding helmets are required. It should also be ASTM certified for safety. The farm has some helmets available that your child may borrow, however, it is best that you bring along a riding helmet. You may wish to purchase one at Tractor Supply, or from one of the following tack shops: Silver Maple, Rider's Crossing, Cheshire, or Bewley's.
3. Should my child bring along a water bottle or juice? Or Lunch?
Drinks and snacks are included. Chidren must bring a bag lunch.
4. How do I sign my child up for camp?
You may contact HillCroft Stables directly by phone, email, or you may fill out the application and mail it with your deposit. This is recommended to reserve your child's spot for the week(s) you wish to enroll (5825 Mariaville Rd., Schenectady NY 12306).
5. Can I bring a friend to visit?
Not without prior notification. It is necessary that only participants (and their parents/guardian) in the camp or lessons are on the property. If you would like to invite a friend to visit who may be interested in the program, we will set up an appointment and we'll be happy to meet them and show them around.
